Mar 17 deadline: NOAA NGI Diversity Summer Internship Program

The NOAA NGI Diversity Internship Program is a 10-week summer internship open to undergraduate and graduate students who are U.S. citizens and currently enrolled in a degree-granting program. There is an emphasis on students from communities and institutions in the Northern Gulf of Mexico region and the program specifically targets populations underrepresented in the NOAA workforce. Students studying all scientific disciplines, including physical, biological, environmental, information and social sciences, as well as education, are eligible to apply for these competitive internships.

These internships provide career exploration in a variety of fields studied by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and Northern Gulf Institute (NGI) scientists including coastal science, fisheries management, climate change, ecosystem management and socioeconomic data analysis. Interns work with leading scientists and experts in their fields at their respective research institutions and laboratories while participating in locally relevant research.

Submit all application materials to Ms. Rachel Nowlin, NOAA-NGI Diversity Internship Coordinator, at rnowlin@disl.org; 101 Bienville Blvd., Dauphin Island, Ala., 36528, or fax to 251-861-7540; please include a cover page that reads "Attn: Rachel Nowlin."

Application materials may be downloaded here.

Application materials are due March 17, 2010, but applications will be considered until all positions are filled.  For further information, contact Rachel Nowlin at rnowlin@disl.org or 251-861-7585.
