Technology Resources Program Eligibility

Technology Resources Program Eligibility

Due to funding limitations, the Technology Resources program is only accepting applications from environmental justice groups in the Greater Houston area, or that are engaging in freshwater work in southern states east of the Mississippi River.

To be eligible for the Technology Resources program, a group must fit all of the following should:

  • Be an individual environmental justice, or a network or coalition of environmental justice and environmental activist groups

  • Be a multi-issue local, state or regional nonprofit organization that spends at least 10% of its resources on environmental issues

  • Based in the Southeast and Southwestern United States, including Arizona, Arkansas, Alabama, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Utah.  Groups based in Mexico that work on environmental issues which occur on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border may also apply.

  • Use community organizing, public education, direct action, lobbying or other methods to affect public or private sector policies that impact human health, the environment or community sustainability.

  • Organizations that build the capacity of communities to engage in environmental justice are also eligible to apply.

In addition, we are particularly interested in supporting organizations that:

  • serve low-income people and people of color; and

  • have limited resources (generally budgets under $500,000).

The Technology Resources program works with groups that are eligible for support and are willing to commit time to implementing a technology plan and fully utilizing the resources they are given. Groups must be willing to commit up to eighty (80) hours over a six to twelve-month period to the program.

The time would be spent on participating in the onsite assessment and planning, working with the Technology Specialist on purchasing and installing the equipment, training for appropriate staff or volunteers, and receiving ongoing support, as needed, from the Technology Specialist.
